There is less than three weeks until New Year’s Eve. If you have been spending to much time daydreaming about kissing someone when the ball drops, here are a few easy steps to turn it into a reality and help you find a New Year’s date or a new romance in the New Year.
Figure Out What You Want
It would be great to have a date for New Year’s, but you don’t want any date. Take some time to list your priorities, and the qualities you seek in a future partner. This will help you keep these non-negotiables in mind when you are out and being social.
Talk to people. If you see someone you know at the office or out for drinks, don’t be afraid to join the conversation. It is a great way to make a connection with someone new. Smiling in someone’s direction can also let people know you are confident, friendly and ready to chat.
Ask Your Friends For Help
Your friends can be a great resource when you’re looking for someone new to date. Try asking your network to help you out. For example you could say, “Allison, you have lots of guy friends. Can you think of someone you can introduce me to. I’m open-minded and what is most important is a quality person” Or if you have someone in mind you might say, “Tracey, I think your friend Mark is cute. Can you ask him if he wants to go to the movies with a group of us on Friday?”
If want to meet someone, you need to put yourself out there. This means you need to be social. Try to say “yes” to every invitation you receive. Maybe your friends invite you to go see a movie, but you don’t necessarily feel like seeing that film. Go anyway! You never know who will be in the group.
Use Social Media
Try using social media to your advantage! Businesses do every day. You are recruiting for the most important position- a future partner. Go ahead and friend the computer tech guy from your office, or if you met someone at a party recently, follow them on Instagram. You never know where it may lead.
